Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Oil 4 Less has manufactured the Codatron(TM) high voltage shunt regulator
since August 2005 to present.
What is your primary product or service?
We make and sell the Codatron(TM) high voltage shunt regulator, which is primarily used for downhole oil prospecting.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We were interested in creating salable products to the oil patch, and Syd Levine of Analog Services indicated that the Victoreen(TM) Corotron(TM) high voltage shunt regulator was no longer being made, and the price of them was going up by the month.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We developed a solid state replacement, that was more quiet, by at least an order of magnitude, than a high voltage shunt regulator made by Titan Industries.
Our product has always been more reliable and operates to higher temperatures (200C).
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Two locations, no need to expand.
Provide detailed directions to your location
All sales are by mail making such information moot.
What type of payments do you accept?
Company checks, money orders, and wire transfers.
Which areas do you service?
The US, Canada, South America, Europe, Australia, and China so far.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Robert Baer, Manager
What are your hours of operation?
Technically, 24 hours.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"The regulator is so quiet that the charge amplifiers used with the photo multipliers need no shielding during bench testing."
